Dreamcast Development Tools Needed

Postby Maximus32 on Wed Nov 05, 2008 3:49 pm

So I got this old dreamcast with a bad laser, one controller, a mouse and a keyboard. But the only way to run homebrew right now is by buring a CD for everything I need to test. Even this fails a lot becouse of the bad laser. I already adjusted the laser (befor it was NOT working AT ALL).

But what I really need is a serial cable or a broadband adapter. So If you got one, and you're not using it anymore, Send it to me and I will promise a port to the Dreamcast very soon.

I don't know where you are living but you could buy a rs232 cable, they aren't expensive: http://cablecrafters.vstore.ca/ccci1450 ... p-479.html

Well it's not that simple. I got plenty of serial cables. It needs a cable with a special connector.

This is what the back of a dreamcast looks like:

Well i doesn't have that cable and i doesn't have a Dreamcast.
I would realy like to help you because i like your project. On Friday I searched for an PS1 toolchain for more than an hour but i didn't find anything useful. I only found very old links (from 2002) that didn't work.
Every day I am checking this board for news and I really hope for a new ralease.

It's nice to get some positive feedback, thanks.

I have a very old (working) toolchain for the PS1. I can get simple code to compile and run on my PS1, but for Bricks-OS to compile I need a newer version.

If you can compile bricks-os you could try to build some more sample applications I have checked in. It's all in the svn source repository.

I can't  :(
I don't know much about C and neither about the PS1.
